Andrew Langston, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Monroe County Broadcasting Company and WDKX-FM, doesn’t know the meaning of giving up. A born optimist, Andrew spent six years working with the FCC trying to secure FM frequency 103.9 for his radio station. WDKX-FM in Rochester, New York, finally went on the air on April 6, 1974 and was one of the first black-owned radio stations in New York. It has been on the air ever since and is the only locally-owned commercial radio station in Rochester. Andrew Langston is still at the helm.
